World resources and security are steadily and quickly depleting. With regards to wealth, as of October 13, 2021, the world debt according to the International Money Fund (IMF) has jumped to a new high of $226 trillion. Meanwhile, the world’s population has now reached 7,874,965,825 people. This means that every time a child is born into this world, they enter owing $28,698.54 of debt.
Besides dollars and cents, our planet is under great stress with so much CO2 emission that the temperatures are rising giving way to new and severe weather patterns. The result is increased death to humans, animals, and vegetation.
In the earth’s various laboratories, new toxins and biological agents are being manufactured for terrorist use. Some are created to use against unsuspecting targets while others are developed to fight off anticipated future threats.
Besides money, environmental, and terrorist threats, our political systems are in constant clash. Locally, civil wars and regional tensions are ever present. Externally, world powers are posturing themselves in outer space using newly developed high-tech weapons in preparedness for a final conflict.
It would appear that our planet has seen its glory days and is on its way out the door. But then comes Jesus!
Then comes Jesus! He will be reigning
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
Isaiah 9:6-7
After a wait of thousands of years, the Lord Jesus Christ will sit on the throne of David. Jesus is the last of the Davidic dynasty and His reign will usher in a time of peace and prosperity like nothing the world has ever experienced. His reign will finally bring justice and holiness to the world.
The world has never had a ruler like this. All human rulers are controlled by their lusts for power, for wealth and for self glory. Jesus, on the other hand, will reign in perfect righteousness. As the name suggests, the millennial reign of Christ will last 1,000 years and will be a time of almost perfect existence.
Then comes Jesus! He will be ruling
“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.”
Revelation 19:15
Not only does the Bible foretells that Jesus will reign, but it also prophesizes how He will rule during His reign. Verse 15 gives us the foundation of Christ’s rule. It says, “And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword”.
Scripture specifies the importance of a person’s speech. The “mouth” is the smoking gun that loudly declares the thoughts of a man’s soul. One’s heart and soul give verbal utterance through his mouth.
The words from God’s mouth are the utterances of life itself! Christ’s words bring froth healing and life. This is because His words expose the heart, mind, and soul of the almighty God. They are pure and true! However, from Revelation 19:15 we also learn that Christ’s words hold power and are also used for righteous weaponry.
“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations.”
Orders given, orders obeyed
During the Millennium, when Jesus gives an order, it will be righteous, it will be decisive, and it will be obeyed. This is the foundation and means of His rule.
According to Scripture, Jesus will “rule the world with a rod of iron” (Rev. 19:15). Like a shepherd, Jesus will guide the entire population of the world. However, those who refuse to bow to His authority will be dealt with swiftly and harshly. Rebellion will not be tolerated in that day!
This is also supported by Old Testament passages such as Isaiah 40:10:
“Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.”
Gone are the days of scandal and coverup. All things will be openly righteous. Today, cynicism is constantly in our thoughts whenever we hear a politician make a promise. This will not be so in the 1,000-year reign of the Saviour.
Finally, a time when you can go to bed at night and sleep peacefully. The only people who will live in fear are the rebellious citizens who despise the ways of God. For them, the 1,000 years will be one of endurance awaiting the release of the wicked serpent from the bottomless pit.
But for the redeemed, this will be a foreshadowing of heaven on earth. Such holy rule will bring forth the third general thing Jesus will be doing on earth during the Millennium.
Then comes Jesus! He will be receiving
In the day in which we live, the Lord Jesus is viewed as some kind of a comical character by the world. His name is used not for blessings but for cursing. To others, He is the symbol of a poor fool who got Himself killed on a cross through His politically incorrect actions.
However, in the Millennial kingdom, He will receive the glory He has always deserved. All people from every nation will come and bow at His feet and worship the King of Glory! Instead of cursing His name, men will worship Him and shout His praises! What a day that will be!
“And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.”
Isaiah 40:5
During the 1,000-year reign of Christ, Jesus will be receiving His due glory and praise!
So, what?
So, do we have a shortage of resources and an excess of woes here on planet earth? Oh, yes, we do! But then comes Jesus!
The earth will finally get her rest and reward from her Creator. But only those who receive Jesus as their Saviour will be invited into this Kingdom. The moment you humble yourself and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, is the moment your citizenship paper are reserved for you into this Millennial Kingdom. This 1,000-year event will be as real as you are sitting here reading this blogpost today. But remember, this Kingdom is only for the born-again in Jesus Christ!
